SELON Manual / Density

What is Density?

In SELON, Density is not just contrast or saturation. It describes a state where light, shadow, and color feel anchored instead of thin or washed out.

What it changes

Density is not simply making the image darker. It adjusts the relationship between highlights, midtones, and shadows so the photograph feels more settled and cohesive.

Phone JPEGs and quick edits can look thin: lifted shadows, weak whites, and color that does not sit on the image. Density is SELON's way of giving that image a stronger photographic body.

When to use it

Use Density when a photo feels light, flat, or sleepy even though the scene itself is good. It is especially useful for backlight, cloudy light, indoor light, and phone images with shallow-looking tone.

Too much Density can make the image heavy. SELON treats it as part of a larger balance with temperature, curve, halation, and grain.
