SELON Manual / Halation

What is Halation?

Halation is a film-inspired glow or color bloom around bright areas. In SELON, it is treated as a trace of light rather than a generic glow effect.

How it differs from glow

Glow is a soft spread of light. Halation is more about color remaining around highlights, often with a red, orange, or warm edge.

Used carefully, it can make highlights feel photographic. Used too strongly, it can become an obvious filter.

How SELON uses it

SELON aims to make halation react mainly to bright areas, with controls for color, strength, spread, and texture.

The goal is not a loud light effect, but a small memory of light around sources, whites, and clipped highlights.
